Issuance of a new collector coin of the Republic of Armenia Back

PRESS RELEASE
11.09.2026
Issuance of a new collector coin of the Republic of Armenia

On September 14, 2026, the Central Bank of Armenia puts into circulation “35th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia” silver collector coin.

Collector coin dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia (1991–2026)

September 21, 1991 marks the beginning of the Third Republic in the history of Armenia. During this period, the symbols of Armenian statehood – the flag, coat of arms, and anthem of the Republic of Armenia – were officially adopted. State awards, including honorary titles, orders, and medals, were also established.

The national currency of the Republic of Armenia, the Dram, was introduced into circulation on November 22, 1993.
The establishment of an independent democratic state fostered the renewal and strengthening of national identity, self-awareness, and traditions, while the role of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in public life grew significantly. One of the most significant achievements of the independence period has undoubtedly been the creation of a national army, serving as the guarantor and defender of Armenian statehood.

Today, Armenia is a member of the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Council of Europe, the World Trade Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, and other international organizations.

Obverse: the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia and an Armenian ornament.
Reverse: the building of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia (architect: M. Grigoryan, 1950), a stylized tricolor flag, the inscription “35th ANNIVERSARY OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA” in Armenian, and the words from the national anthem of the Republic of Armenia, Our Motherland – “...Let Armenia be glorious forever” in Armenian (lyrics by M. Nalbandyan, music by B. Kanachyan).

Notice

Collector coins are made of precious metals and are issued to present to the society the national, international, historical and cultural, spiritual and other values of the country, to immortalize these values in the metal and to meet the demands of the numismatic market.
Like any other currency the collector coins have face value which makes them the means of payment. However, the face value of these coins is much lower that their cost price which includes the cost of the precious metal used for manufacturing of the coin, mintage and other expenses. Low face value and high cost price allow these coins to be considered as the items of collection and not the means of payment used in money circulation. The collector coins have also the sale price set by the Central Bank of Armenia.
As the items of collection the collector coins are issued in very restricted quantities and are not reissued.
Numismatists, collectors and all interested persons can buy the Armenian collector coins in the sales salon “Numismatist” which is in the building of the Central Bank of Armenia and is open for everyone.
